【明報專訊】Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November every year in the United States. This year Thanksgiving Day is on next Thursday, November 28. It is to celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year. Turkeys are served at Thanksgiving meals and they are one of the symbols of Thanksgiving. For whom or what are you thankful? This craft is a decoration that can remind you of the good things in your life.
◆Materials and tools
•A piece of cardboard
•A piece of red paper
•A piece of yellow or orange paper
•Some coloured paper of different colours
•Glue
•Scissors
•Black marker or colour pencils
•An eraser
(1) Draw the body of the turkey on a piece of cardboard.
(2) Draw five to eight feathers on coloured paper of different colours.
(3) Draw a wattle (禽類喉部的肉垂) on a piece of red paper.
(4) Draw a beak and two feet on a piece of yellow or orange paper.
(5) Cut out all the pieces.
(6) Glue the feathers and feet onto the back of the body. Pay attention
to the layering.
(7) Finally, draw two eyes and glue the wattle and beak to the face. Write the names of people, objects or ideas that you feel the most grateful for on the feathers.
■Quick tips
•If you do not have a piece of cardboard, you can use the cereal box. You may even replace the body with a toilet paper roll.
•You may use googly eyes.
•Add a hat for your turkey to make it unique.
