【明報專訊】The English test is coming and the Smarties are busy revising. However, Pat is not working at all...
MoMo: Bill, can you lend me your lecture notes on the lesson about past tense? I was sick that day and didn't go to school.
Bill: Sure, here you are. (1) It is important to remember the structure.
MoMo: Thanks. (2) It is very nice of you to help your friends. But Pat is still playing her new CD...
Bill: Hey Pat, can you please turn down the volume?
Pat: Come on! Why don't you join me? (3) I think it is beneficial for you to relax a little bit!
We use the structure "it (be) + adjective + to infinitive" to describe the effect of an action.
e.g. It is delightful to hear him sing.
We can use "of / for somebody" to include extra information to describe someone or the effect of the action on someone.
e.g. It is dangerous for you to climb that tree. ( = Climbing that tree is dangerous for you.)
e.g. It is kind of you to help me move the boxes. ( = I think you are kind when you help me move the boxes.)
