【明報專訊】A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets is a book authored by James Bowen. Based on his own true story, it was adapted into A Street Cat Named Bob (《街角遇見貓》), a comedy-drama film directed by Roger Spottiswoode last year.

When a homeless busker and recovering drug addict James Bowen finds an injured ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he has no idea just how much his life is about to change. James is living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needs is a pet. However, James can't resist helping this intelligent cat, whom he quickly names Bob. He slowly nurses Bob back to health and then sends him on his way, thinking he will never see him again.

But Bob has other ideas. He refuses to leave but follows him wherever he goes. Soon the two are inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures will transform both their lives, slowly healing the scars of each other's troubled pasts.

The book was first published in 2012, and there have since been seven further books about Bob. The book sold more than a million copies in the UK. It was named in the top ten teen reads of all time by the organisers of World Book Day, in the company of other best-selling books such as J K Rowling's Harry Potter series.
