News feed:An exodus from WhatsApp
【明報專訊】WhatsApp, an instant messaging app used by many of us, recently announced a controversial policy that requires users to share their personal data with Facebook, its parent company.
That sparked an exodus from WhatsApp to Signal, LINE and Telegram. Signal's downloads in one week even increased 35-fold. There are three issues. First, a large amount of important data, including phone numbers, users' locations, contacts, etc, will be shared. Second, the deadline, though postponed until May 15, hasn't dispelled doubt. Third, some people might not use Facebook! However, WhatsApp explains that Facebook can't gain access to the data. It says the sharing will facilitate dealings by allowing businesses to handle their customers better. Anyway, back up your data if you no longer want to use the app!
