Talk of the town:Employment support for persons with disabilities

The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has run an internship scheme for students with disabilities to provide opportunities for young people to gain work experience in the Government. Mr Kelvin Yang who is visually impaired is one of the students.

【明報專訊】According to the official statistics of the government, the unemployment rate of people with disabilities was 11% in 2020. People with disabilities, even those with post-secondary education, were found to encounter more difficulties in finding a job.

The Selective Placement Division of the Labour Department provides personalised employment services for job seekers with disabilities but fit for open employment, helping them get employed more easily. Employment consultants conduct job matching and identify suitable job vacancies for job seekers with disabilities and refer them to employers for job interviews.
