Julius Caesar (100 BC - 44 BC) was a military leader and politician in ancient Rome. His parents were well off. Apart from reading and writing, he learned public speaking and law from his private tutor.
Caesar led his army to conquer a lot of land. Soon, he became a military hero and enjoyed great popularity. In 59 BC, he was elected one of the two consuls, which were the presidents of Rome. After declaring himself 'dictator for life', he enjoyed more power and became one of the most powerful men in the world. During his rule, he improved the tax system and the calendar.
