【明報專訊】Pat: My uncle and aunt are seriously addicted to alcohol. They consumes alcohol at home, on a daily basis.

MoMo: Do they know how harmful alcohol is?

Pat: They said they knew their boundaries, and that they would not be intoxicated. Alcoholic drinks are common. I bet alcoholic beverages are not that harmful at all.

MoMo: This is ridiculous! Alcoholic beverages are classified as Group 1 carcinogen to humans.

Pat: This can't be true! Carcinogen? It sounds dreadful!

MoMo: It is as dreadful as it sounds. Long-term consumption of alcohol could increase the risk of a wide range of long-term illnesses, like gastritis (胃炎), liver cirrhosis (肝硬化), obesity, etc. Have you persuaded them to reduce the intake of alcohol?

Pat: I tried, but they ignored my suggestions and scolded me. ''Stop throwing tantrums, mind your own business!'' They said.

MoMo: That is so irritating. Alcoholic consumption is often related to some social issues like domestic violence, child abuse or child neglect. If the situation gets worse, feel free to find me. I will accompany you to see a counsellor. I hope that helps.

Pat: Thanks a lot, but I think I can handle it. We will talk about this issue soon.

MoMo: You have my back!
