【明報專訊】Pat is thrilled as her favorite singer is staging a concert. However, Bill finds her annoying. Why?
Bill:Stop it, Pat! You have already refreshed the webpage a hundred times. It is annoying!
Pat: Oh, you don't understand! The concert tickets will be sold in a few minutes! I must log in as soon as the online sales starts.
Bill: It is just a concert. Can't you watch the live streaming or buy the DVD after?
Pat: It is very different! (1) Many fans go to the concert not just to watch the performance! It is a chance to meet other like-minded fans and buy limited-edition merchandise too!
Bill: I see. But it seems to me that online ticketing depends very much on luck. I would rather (2) wake up early to queue outside the ticketing office myself.
■English highway﹕To + inifinitive clause
We can use the word ''to'' followed by an infinitive clause for showing the purpose of an action.
e.g. I am writing to thank you for your generous gift.
