China - schools are reopened

【明報專訊】During the COVID-19 pandemic, most students in Hong Kong experienced remote learning at home. Do you enjoy remote learning? Did you encounter any difficulties when you studied at home? (photo.1)

Developing countries - lack of learning equipment

According to a report from UNICEF, 49% of students in Eastern and Southern Africa cannot be reached by digital and broadcast remote learning policies. Some students do not own any computers, tablets, or mobile devices. Internet instability also contributes to the issue.

Some 300,000 students have dropped out this year in Peru because of the need to work or difficulties in accessing the Internet. (photo.2)

China - schools are reopened

Upon the decreasing number of reported COVID-19 cases, the Chinese government instructed different regional governments to reopen schools in late August 2020. Most towns in China have resumed face-to-face teaching.

India - learning through TV

Doordarshan, a public broadcaster in India, is broadcasting educational content through its television and broadcast services. The videos are available in various languages, and can be accessed by anyone.

Although remote learning is an innovative way of teaching, there are several important issues to be dealt with. How can teachers ensure effective teaching? Are you willing to sit in front of the computer for several hours, just to learn but not browse other websites?
