【明報專訊】Hong Kong, an oasis of freedom and prosperity, is easily overlooked owing to its small size.
World-renowned HK school system
But Hong Kong is famous in the world for its demanding school system. So how can students constantly work hard to get admitted to university and find time for practising sports?
As an exchange student from Denmark, a small and idyllic country in the northern part of Europe, I come from a school system that encourages students' creativity and allows everyone to enjoy lots of spare time. It means that we have plenty of time to enjoy sports practices.
Forgotten connections in Europe
Instead of having sport training sessions after school as independent club/institution members, students in Hong Kong engage in activities closely connected with their "houses" at their schools. There are lots of inter-house activities, which have given rise to a very strong spirit among students. They are proud to represent their beloved schools - a very meaningful aspect which I think we tend to forget in Europe.
