Born in Japan and raised in America in a Japanese-Haitian family, Naomi Osaka started her career as a professional tennis player in 2013 and represents Japan in international championships. In 2018 she won her first title at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Indian Wells (¦L²Ä¦w³º¸´µºô²yÁÉ), and then defeated the legendary player, Serena Williams, in the US Open Tennis Championships (¬ü°êºô²y¤½¶}ÁÉ). Naomi became the first Japanese player ever to win a Grand Slam (¤jº¡³e) title. She now ranks fifth in the WTA's rankings.

Naomi's elder sister, Mari, is also a professional tennis player representing Japan. They play doubles in tournaments (right) and are sometimes compared to the Williams sisters by the media.
