Line graph 折線圖﹕Trend of agility ratings of the Smarties' members in the past six months

Pie chart 圓形圖﹕Win-loss proportion against Eason

◆Examples:

1. This line graph shows how each member of the Smarties has performed in the training sessions over the past six months.

2. MoMo's physical agility has remained high and stable at over 75 points over the past six months.

3. Bill started with the lowest level of physical agility at 40 points in the first month, but his performance has gradually improved month after month and his physical agility has eventually reached 65 points.

4. Pat's performance has been unstable. She started at 80 points, the highest level any member of the Smarties has ever reached, but her physical agility fell dramatically to 55 points in the following month.

5. Dr Panda scored 55 points at the beginning, and his physical agility dropped slightly to 50 points in the second month. It steadily rose to 80 points at the end of the recorded period.

◆Writing tips:

Different graphs are used to present information in different ways. For example, a line graph shows a trend over time, while a pie chart shows parts of a whole. To describe a graph, pay attention to the similarities and differences between the categories, the general trend and any other significant information presented in the data.

■English highway﹕- sentences

but

We use but to introduce a statement that adds to a previous statement something that contrasts with it in some way.

e.g. Eason is very talented but he always find it irresistible to play tricks on others.
