【明報專訊】Eason is sitting at a desk with a big, cheeky grin, looking mischievous. What devilish scheme is he plotting this time?

Eason: ”Why can't we suggest names for typhoons just like in other countries? ”

Dr Panda: ”While we can't suggest or vote on typhoon names, we can participate in educational activities regarding typhoons. ”

Eason: ”If I could ever submit names, I'd go for the funniest ones like ''Typhoon Poopy'' and ''Typhoon Handsome Eason''! ”

Bill: ”We should count our blessings that we don't accept naming suggestions in Hong Kong! ”

MO MO: ”Yeah! We're so lucky! ”

■Know more

A typhoon is a powerful tropical storm characterised by violent winds and heavy rain. It forms when warm ocean water heats the air above, causing the air to rise and create a spinning mass of clouds and winds.

Typhoons are tracked and monitored using satellites and radars, which provide real-time data on the storm's location, strength and potential path. Strong typhoons can cause floods, landslides and destructive winds, damaging buildings and causing power outages. For example, Typhoon Mangkhut(山竹)in 2018 caused severe flooding and significant damage to infrastructure in Hong Kong, injuring at least 458 people.

In Hong Kong, typhoon warnings are issued at Signals 1, 3, 8, 9 and 10. In severe cases, people have to stay at home for safety.

■English highway﹕To count one's blessings

''To count one's blessings'' is an idiom which means to be grateful for the good things in life.

E.g. We lost the match, but let's count our blessings for the friendships we made.
