【明報專訊】Recent developments in the local online streaming(串流) arena suggest that the entertainment giants are still struggling from intense fights and competition.
Disney+ is entering Hong Kong on 16 November, providing a large variety of content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and etc. On the strength of the unprecedented success of its Marvel superheroes franchise and Pixar animations, Disney+ is expected to bring a paramount impact to the local online streaming industry. It may even challenge the position of Netflix in the field.
Meanwhile, Netflix is hitting new milestones. Regarding Netflix's subscriber growth, the latest quarterly report expects to add 8.5 million new subscribers towards the end of the year. Due to copyright restrictions, Netflix is producing more original content than ever before.
There are also numerous choices on the table, like YouTube premium, Amazon's prime video and HBO GO. They all have different features and subscription schemes. Are your family one of their subscribers? Do you think the subscription schemes are too expensive?
