Majority Rule Day

The Bahamas(¤Ú«¢°¨) is an archipelagic country (¸s®q°ê®a). It used to be a British colony, and the majority of people in the Bahamas are of African descent (¦å²Î).

They exercised their autonomy through the parliamentary elections after the fifties. 10 January 1967 was an important day for the Bahamians. On that day, the Bahamians held perhaps the most important election in their history. Lynden Pindling, the leader of the Progressive Liberal Party, was unprecedentedly chosen as the first native (·í¦aªº) government leader. It was not until 2014 that it became an official holiday.
