放眼世界:I enjoyed Christmas in Germany
【明報專訊】The bravest step I have ever taken is to get out of my comfort zone. I've not only learned to be more independent but also broadened my horizons.
Nikolaus and Santa Claus
The biggest festival in Germany is Christmas. Unlike Hongkongers, Germans give their presents on December 24. On every December 6, the rumor gets about that“Nikolaus”will give well-behaved kids presents. Though they have similar outfits, Nikolaus and Santa Claus are different. Nikolaus is the name of a Greek Christian bishop known for performing miracles and giving gifts secretly.
Since I did not expect my host family to regard me as a kid, I was really surprised when I found my shoes were full of sweets and chocolates. Christmas fairs and Christmas markets in Germany are unique. You can get at a Christmas market all kinds of Christmas goods and gifts, especially traditional things such as wood carvings. I really enjoyed Christmas here!
