加拿大評車人協會(Automobile Journalists Association of Canada﹐簡稱AJAC)每年評選「加拿大最佳汽車」(Canadian Car of the Year)﹐是加國車壇大事﹐十分矚目。

今年的評選於10月24至28日﹐在多倫多以東Clarington鎮的Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 賽車場舉行﹐由多達90名報導加國車壇動態的記者或編輯參與試車及評選﹐要從逾100輛2017年款車輛中評選出「加拿大最佳汽車」(Canadian Car of the Year)﹑「加拿大最佳多用途車」(Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year)﹑「加拿大最佳環保汽車」(Canadian Green Car of the Year)﹐以及「加拿大最佳環保多用途車」(Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year)。AJAC成員經過4天的努力﹐為逾百輛2017年新車作出「背對背」(back-to-back)式測試﹐為十多個範圍如加速﹑耗油量﹑噪音﹑載貨空間等打分﹐終於在上周公布了8個類別車輛的三甲。到12月初﹐會再選出8個類別車輛的冠軍﹐然後從這8個冠軍中選出4個加拿大「最佳」。

「加拿大最佳汽車」及「加拿大最佳多用途車」﹐將於明年2月16日在多倫多舉行的加拿大國際車展開幕時公布﹔而「加拿大最佳環保汽車」及「加拿大最佳環保多用途車」﹐則於明年3月22日在溫哥華車展上公布。

所謂「背對背」式測試﹐即在駕駛完一輛參選車之後，立即駕駛另一輛同類的車，走同樣路線、同樣路程，以確保兩者得到同樣的測試﹐令到比對更可靠。由於測試路面包括賽車場﹑公共馬路及郊野路﹐而不單是在試車場試車，所以結果比較具有現實意義，對買車人士的參考價值較大。

經過試車及評分﹐AJAC的評選隊伍選出下列8個類別車輛的三甲﹕

Best New Small Car﹕Chevrolet Cruze﹑Hyundai Elantra﹑Subaru Impreza。

Best New Large Car﹕Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid﹑Kia Optima HEV﹑Volkswagen Golf (Alltrack)。

Best New Large Premium Car﹕Buick LaCrosse﹑Mercedes-Benz E-Class (E 300 4MATIC)﹑S90 Volvo。

Best New Sports - Performance Car﹕Fiat 124 Spider﹑Ford Focus RS﹑Hyundai Elantra (Sport)。

Best New Premium Sports - Performance Car﹕BMW M2﹑Mercedes-AMG C-Class Coupe (AMG C 63 S)﹑Porsche 911 (Carrera 4S)。

Best New Small Utility Vehicle﹕Ford Escape﹑Kia Sportage﹑Subaru Forester。

Best New Large Utility Vehicle﹕Chrysler Pacifica﹑GMC Acadia﹑Mazda CX-9。

Best New Premium Utility Vehicle﹕Buick Envision﹑Cadillac XT5﹑Mercedes-Benz GLC (GLC 300 4MATIC)。
