◆Know more
Queen Victoria (1819 - 1901) was queen of the United Kingdom. She became queen when she was 18 and reigned for almost 64 years. She was a good leader who showed her love of her people.
When Victoria turned 11, she was told that she would be the ruler when she grew up. According to royal etiquette, she could not talk to strangers or eat too many desserts. Queen Victoria is called 'grandmother of Europe' because her descendants held almost every European throne. To this day, some of them still reign over Europe.
Since Hong Kong was a British colony, a lot of places such as Victoria Peak, Victoria Harbour and Victoria Road are named after her.
