【明報專訊】The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many people's habits and reduced the inclination to go out at night. To encourage people to go out and revitalise Hong Kong's nightlife, the government has launched the ''Night Vibes Hong Kong'' campaign to unite different sectors to organise a slew of events with unique and creative ideas.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan said that he hoped the campaign could give citizens more choices when it came to enjoying nighttime entertainment and gatherings with their families, friends and co-workers.

The campaign involves night markets, food stalls, movie screenings and live music performances during weekends on both sides of Victoria Harbour, including locations such as Wan Chai Harbourfront, Sai Wan Harbourfront, Kwun Tong Harbourfront, and the Avenue of Stars.

Hong Kong used to be renowned as a ''sleepless city'' and ''shopper's paradise'' before the pandemic. However, the re-opening of the border of Hong Kong did not lead to significant economic growth. Tourism is one of the main industries in Hong Kong. Recently, more and more Hong Kong people have opted to dine, shop and spend money in Shenzhen, the neighbouring city in the Greater Bay Area. Thus, it is also hoped that the campaign will bring the locals back to Hong Kong by offering discounts and promotions.
