【明報專訊】The Development Bureau has revealed the development plan at Tseung Kwan O Area 132 and 137. In the new development plan, the reclaimed land will be used not only as accommodation, but also to connect renewable power sources with the mainland.

The plan aimed at transforming the area into a site for 135,000 residents and building facilities to harness and convert zero-carbon energy, which will involve receiving nuclear and solar power from China. The new facilities are expected to provide one-third of the electricity supply in Hong Kong and reduce the electricity costs borne by the citizens.

The spokesman for the Environment and Ecology Bureau mentioned that it is crucial to change the fuel mix for electricity generation in Hong Kong and use some zero-carbon energy sources, in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality as suggested in the Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050.
