News Corner﹕Van Gogh's bedroom recreated
【明報專訊】In February 2016, the Art Institute of Chicago set up an installation that resembles Van Gogh's (梵高) famous painting Bedroom in Arles (《在阿爾的臥室》). Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch artist. He was a master in the post-impressionist style. Bedroom in Arles, painted between 1888 and 1889, depicts a room in which he stayed when he was in Arles, France (法國阿爾).
The replica, which people may rent, is furnished with a bed, two chairs, a towel, wall paint and decorations similar in colour and shape to those in the painting. Unlike the original, it comes with a TV, Wi-Fi and a washer-dryer.
There are three Bedroom in Arles paintings. While the first version is owned by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the second is in the possession of the Art Institute, the third is kept in the Musée d'Orsay (奧賽博物館) in France. The 3D installation is part of an exhibition that began on 14 February and ends on 10 May 2016 in the Art Institute of Chicago. It features thirty-six works by Van Gogh including paintings, drawings, illustrated letters and books.
