【明報專訊】This year's Chinese Cultural Festival, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be held from June to September. During the festival period, various cultural activities will be conducted, including film screenings, exhibitions, and community and school activities.

Specifically, the City in Focus of this year is Xi'an, the capital of 13 ancient dynasties with a precious cultural heritage. Treasured exhibits such as the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin (秦始皇兵馬俑) will be on display at the Hong Kong Museum of History. Government officials expect that more than one million people will participate in the activities held during the festival.

Chinese cultural heritage

The Chinese cultural heritage spans thousands of years and is renowned worldwide for its rich history, traditions, and contributions to various fields such as art, philosophy, science, and literature. Alongside Egypt, Mesopotamia, and India, China is often regarded as one of the Four Great Ancient Civilisations.

China's cultural legacy continues to influence our modern world and attracts many people around the world who seek to learn from its history and traditions. For example, China has been setting up Confucius Institutes (孔子學院) around the world to promote the Chinese language and culture, in order to facilitate cultural exchange. Therefore, it is not unusual to hear Putonghua spoken by a foreigner.

The rise of ''China chic'' (國潮)

''China Chic'' is a term that refers to a fashion style or trend that incorporates elements of Chinese traditional culture into contemporary or Western contexts. Goods with Chinese brands and made in China are becoming increasingly popular among the younger generation. For example, more people are choosing to wear ''Hanfu'' (漢服) as their everyday outfits.
