Majority Rule Day
The Bahamas(巴哈馬) is an archipelagic country (群島國家). It used to be a British colony, and the majority of people in the Bahamas are of African descent (血統).
They exercised their autonomy through the parliamentary elections after the fifties. 10 January 1967 was an important day for the Bahamians. On that day, the Bahamians held perhaps the most important election in their history. Lynden Pindling, the leader of the Progressive Liberal Party, was unprecedentedly chosen as the first native (當地的) government leader. It was not until 2014 that it became an official holiday.

majority and minority
Majority means the larger part of a group. It is usually used to refer to people. Minority is the opposite of majority, which refers to the smaller part of a group.
e.g. The majority of Catalonians voted in this year's regional election.
Nancy Pelosi is the minority leader in the US House of Representatives.
