Horizon:Amazing robots in the world

【明報專訊】Do you like robots? Have you ever seen any robots in films? We can also find robots in the real world.

◆Japan - Asimo

ASIMO is a robot created by Honda Motor Corporation in Japan in 2000. It travelled around the globe to promote the idea of living together with robots happily. Asimo has a human-like appearance. It can walk, climb stairs, play football, dance, carry objects, etc. It can also interact with humans because it is equipped with sensors and cameras. It was considered the world's most advanced robot but it retired in 2018.

◆China - Cruzr, Aimbot and Atris

CRUZR, AIMBOT AND ATRIS were developed by a Chinese company called UBTECH. Under COVID-19, medical workers have become busier. Fortunately, Cruzr and Atris robots can help take visitors' temperatures accurately and Aimbots can spray disinfectant on the floor. Both of them remind people to wear a mask, wash their hands and practise social distancing.

◆Hong Kong - Sophia

SOPHIA is a robot with a human face. Its inventor is David Hanson who is American. He created Sophia in Hong Kong in 2016. Sophia can have natural conversations with humans. She has a lot of facial expressions too. This famous robot speaks at different occasions such as TV interviews. In 2017, it became a citizen of Saudi Arabia. This is the first time that a robot has been given citizenship.
