◆Know more
Homer was a poet in ancient Greece. His most famous works include the Iliad and the Odyssey. These poems are called 'epic poems'(史詩), which means 'very long poems'. An epic poem tells readers a dramatic story about some characters or a historical event. They are as long as 24 chapters with more than 15,000 lines.
Although most people believe that Homer was the author of these poems, there is no evidence. Scholars cannot make sure whether these works were written by a single person or a group of people. They are even uncertain whether Homer has ever existed. Furthermore, some say Homer was actually a woman and some say he was blind.
