【明報專訊】If you're bored with the Hong Kong style sausage buns, why not try the mini sausage rolls? It's definitely the simplest appetizer you can make!

◆Ingredients

.mini sausages

.puff pastry (酥皮) (defrosted)

Quick tip

You can find a box of frozen puff pastry in supermarkets or baking shops. If you plan not to use all of the sheets, just take out what you need and return the rest to the freezer.

(1-1b) Cut the puff pastry into narrow triangles.

(2) Place each mini sausage on the shortest side of each triangle, and roll it up towards the other end.

(3) Place the sausage rolls on cookie sheet for baking.

(4) Heat oven to 190°C. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until the sausage rolls are golden brown.

Done! They're the best bite-sized party food!

■Do you know

The mini sausage rolls are more or less the same as the classic western appetizer "pigs in a blanket" (picture 8), which often refers to Vienna sausages or cocktail sausages wrapped in biscuit dough, pancake, or croissant dough. It is small in size and can be finished with one or two bites.

■Glossary

appetizer (n) 餐前小吃

defrost (v) 使解凍

narrow (adj) 狹窄的

dough (n) 麵糰
