【明報專訊】What do you want to be when you grow up? Different countries have their own popular dream jobs that show their unique cultures and values. Based on recent surveys, here are some special dream jobs from around the globe. Do you have the same dream job as kids in these countries?

Australia - Professional athlete

In Australia, many children aspire to be a professional athlete when they grow up. A survey by Commissioner for Children and Young People, Australia, asked 8429 children aged 8 to 12 about their dream jobs in 2019. Being a professional athlete was the most popular answer. A lot of Australian athletes do well in big competitions such as the Olympics, so it is not surprising that kids there want to be like them.

South Korea - Professional gamer

According to a survey by a Korean job search engine called Saramin, the professional gamer is the top dream job for South Korean teenagers in 2021. A professional gamer is also called an e-sports athlete. South Korea is one of the world's leading countries in e-sports, with a strong e-sports industry and culture. Many youngsters dream of becoming professional gamers and competing in tournaments. The government even recognises e-sports as a real sport.

US - YouTubers

In 2019, an online survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Lego, found that children in the US and the United Kingdom were three times as likely to want to be YouTubers or vloggers as astronauts when they grow up. The United States is home to many top aerospace companies and research institutions. It also has a long history of space exploration. Over the years, American astronauts have made important contributions. Many kids are inspired by their bravery. However, in recent years, kids have been more interested in becoming social media stars rather than astronauts.
