Call (somebody) up

To use the phone to talk to someone.

E.g. My dad called me up to tell me the interview result.

Call for (something)

To need or deserve a particular action, remark, or quality.

E.g. My order calls for extra chocolate.

Call (something) off

To cancel something, such as event and activity.

E.g. The government has called off the firework performance due to the pandemic.
