Martin Luther King, Jr. (馬丁路德金,1929 - 1968) was a civil rights leader from the U.S.A. He gave one of the most famous speeches in history.
As an African American, he faced racial discrimination when he was small. The law required black people and white people to go to different schools, used different toilets, sat on different sections of a bus, etc. These made him determined to fight for equality.
When he grew up, he became the leader of American civil rights movement. He helped organise a number of peaceful demonstrations and gave speeches to get more support for civil rights. After years of efforts, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. Martin Luther King changed history by putting an end to discrimination.
