【明報專訊】A construction company has team up with a start-up in Texas to build 100 3D-printed houses near Austin, the US. It is believed that the printers can build the exterior and interior of a 2000-square-foot house within a week, using concrete as the building material.
The adoption of this novel technology is believed to greatly reduce labour cost and material expenditure. Conventional building methods require at least 6 to 12 workers, while the 3D-printing building method requires only 3 workers to provide on-site support. Since the 3D printer can construct the walls precisely, the adoption of such technology could also diminish the amount of excessive construction waste produced.
