New smart identity card
【明報專訊】The new smart identity card replacement exercise began on 27 December 2018. Hong Kong residents are invited to renew their cards in phases, according to their year of birth. The first public round of replacements is for people born in 1985 or 1986. They have to replace their smart identity cards from 21 January to 30 March 2019.
The new smart identity card is pink, light green and light blue in colour. The photo of the card holder is placed on the left, and a small stereo laser image of the portrait, on the right. There is enhancement in security features (防偽特徵), card durability as well as chip (晶片) technology and personal data protection.
The photo on the identity card is always the card holder's concern. The government has suggested some tips on getting a good photo on smart identity card, such as wearing dark coloured clothes with a collar and avoiding heavy make-up. If you wear glasses, non-reflective lenses will produce better results.
