The second voyage of James Cook
235 years ago, Captain James Cook(庫克), famous for his navigation around Australia, made his second voyage. After he had circumnavigated( 環繞航行) New Zealand and recorded areas of Australia, people doubted if there was still any land mass left nearby. Luckily, geologists at that time thought there should be a gigantic continent. His ship, HMS Resolution, arrived the Antarctic Circle on 17 January 1773. His vessel became the first ship ever in human history to appear there.
