【明報專訊】Comic conventions, or Comic Cons ( 動漫展), are great events for comic and animation lovers.
◆The basics
MoMo adores Ariel the little mermaid. As an amateur comic artist, she loves to create unofficial fan arts (同人創作) and derivative works ( 二次創作) from comics she likes.
MoMo also loves cosplaying (角色扮演) because she can make her own costume. (picture 1)
◆The trend
Video games and films adapted from comics are sweeping the globe! While many games, films and novels are adaptations of popular comic works, some comic works are based on other great novels or TV series, which is good news to fans who like the original works. (picture 2)
◆World record
The world's most prolific comic writer is Paul S. Newman (1924-1999), who created more than 4,000 stories in his life. Newman worked for some famous comic producers including Disney, DC comics and Marvel.
◆Check-in
Hong Kong also has its own comic industry. You can show your support and learn more about it by visiting the Comix Home Base ( 動漫基地) in Wan Chai. It is the first art community dedicated to local comic arts and the premise is a pre-war historic monument. (photo.3)
