【明報專訊】Hannah Cockroft (考克羅夫特) is a 23-year-old British athlete who specialises in wheelchair racing. Introduced to wheelchair basketball by an enthusiastic sports teacher, she began to play that sport at 13. She then join her school's disabled sports team and began her journey of athletics. Cockroft has had a very successful athletic career. She won 2 gold medals at the 2012 Paralympic Games (殘疾人奧運會). In September 2015, she was defeated by her 14-year-old British rival Kare Adenegan. Cockroft was beaten for the first time after winning over 300 races. Nevertheless, her defeat has motivated her to focus on the little things she has to improve before she enters another race. On her Facebook page, she congratulated Kare and said she looked forward to having more exciting races in 2016. ■Glossary disabled (adj) 有殘疾的 congratulate (v) 祝賀
