【明報專訊】The government released the Hong Kong Roadmap on Popularisation of Electric Vehicles in March, 2021. Before being able to popularise electric vehicles, the government needs to ensure that there are sufficient supporting facilities available in the city. Charging facilities, sophisticated technology and a steady supply of electric vehicles locally are all important factors.

0. The government aims to achieve carbon neutrality(碳中和), through policies such as zero vehicular emissions.

◆What is the number of electric vehicles in Hong Kong?

．18,500. The number of electric vehicles in 2010 was about 180, meaning the number of electric vehicles is surging at an unprecedentedly fast pace. The growth reflects the increasing acceptance of electric vehicles by the public.
◆How many parking spaces equipped with electric vehicle charging facilities are expected?
At least 150,000. The government's target is to equip all parking spaces in both private residential and commercial buildings with charging facilities before 2025.
