¡i©ú³ø±M°T¡jA masked palm civet (ªG¤l¯W) was found wandering at Central(¤¤Àô). Like bats, squirrels, green turtles and leopard cats, etc., civets are specified in the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance and are protected by law. Any person who contravenes the regulations of the Ordinance shall be liable on conviction to a maximum fine of HK¢C100,000 and to imprisonment for 1 year.

Hong Kong has a wide variety of habitats which contribute to the diversity of local fauna especially birds and insects. However, urbanization may cause environmental degradation or loss of habitats.
