Spotlight¡RRed-eared sliders
¡i©ú³ø±M°T¡jOn August 17, a lifeguard working at Approach Beach in Sham Tseng (²`¤«ªñ¤ôÆWªaÅy) found many red-eared sliders (¤Ú¦èÀt) stuck in the shark nets there. Others were seen on the beach. He notified the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA, ·RÅ@°Êª«¨ó·|), and its people went there and saved sixty-one red-eared sliders.
It is believed that a religious activity took place there at which animals were thrown into the sea. A spokesperson for the SPCA warned that recklessly releasing animals into the wild could kill because some animals are unable to adapt to the environment in the wild. (source: Ming Pao)
