Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian artist, inventor and scientist (1452 - 1519). He was considered the most all-round genius of all time.
The portrait of Mona Lisa is one of his most famous artworks. The painting is the star of the Louvre Museum in Paris where millions of visitors go to see it. No matter where they stand, they think that Mona Lisa is staring at them.
Apart from painting, Leonardo da Vinci also drew countless sketches of his ideas including a flying machine, a parachute, a calculator, etc. His ideas of the parachute and helicopter were made in modern times. In 1516, the King of France invited him to be the official painter of the king, so he moved to France and stayed there for the rest of his life.
