It refers to something which is of relatively low significance.
e.g. The transportation fee is just small potatoes compared to our expenses for accommodation.
◆Hot potato
It refers to a controversial issue that is difficult to deal with.
e.g. How to control the coronavirus outbreak has become a hot potato for the government.
◆Couch potato
It refers to a person who spends a lot of time on television.
e.g. Many students are forced to stay indoors due to the coronavirus outbreak, and most of them have become couch potatoes.
