放眼世界：I can't wait for Chinese New Year
【明報專訊】I am 16 and come from Denmark. I have been here in Hong Kong as an exchange student for about two months now. I live with an amazing host family with two younger brothers, who are trying to teach me Cantonese. Hong Kong is very different from where I come from. For example, school life here is very different. My school in Denmark gives little homework, but the situation here is just the opposite. Here, I wear a school uniform, bow to teachers, call them by their last names and do homework for about 2 hours every day. All seems interesting and I learn many new things every day.
Denmark's biggest festival is Christmas
I celebrated the Mid-autumn festival here and it was a lot of fun! I ate a lot of mooncakes and played with beautiful lanterns. I can't wait for the Chinese New Year! I heard it's an important festival here in Hong Kong. In Denmark, our biggest festival is Christmas, when we decorate the entire house, dance around the Christmas tree, eat a lot of Danish cookies and gather together with family members watching TV-shows about Christmas every night in December! That is something I will probably miss next December because I have heard Christmas in Hong Kong is not a "very big deal" and on Christmas eve most young people just hang out with friends. But of course it will be a lot of fun to do just that.
