Talk of the town:General Labour Class

[2022.06.01] 發表

【明報專訊】According to the latest guideline by the Chinese government, the new course ''General Labour Class'' will take at least one class hour per week on average.

There are different phases in this subject. Easier tasks will be taught to the junior students while more complex tasks will be taught to the senior students. The performance of students will be evaluated in multi-dimensional assessments instead of examinations or homework. Let's take a look at the syllabus of the new subject!

''Double reduction'' policy

As students in China are often overburdened by round-the-clock learning in private tuition classes and at home, the Chinese government introduced the ''double reduction'' policy in 2021. ''Double reduction'' policy refers to the reduction of after-school time spent on homework and private tuition classes. The new ''General Labour Class'' is seen to be one of the latest policy reforms to achieve the objectives of the ''double reduction'' policy.
