【明報專訊】Have you heard of the artificial Tai Po Lung Mei Beach(龍尾灘)? This beach was opened for use on 23 June 2021. It is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), and several facilities are provided to the public, such as refreshment kiosk, changing room, shower facilities and babycare room.
A large variety of restaurants could be found near the beach as well. However, some people reported that they were stung by sea urchins(海膽) and jellyfish on the beach, some even reported that the beach has partly turned into a black sand beach.
◆ How many government-built artificial beach(es) is/are there?
Tai Po Lung Mei Beach is the first only man-made beach constructed by the government.

How long is the beach?
200 metres long, which is half of a standard running track.
What is the exact location of the beach?
It is located on 168 Ting Kok Road in Tai Po, near Tai Mei Tuk Public Transport Interchange.
◆How many injuries were reported?
110 cases of swimmers getting slightly stung after stepping on sea urchins, and
51 cases of swimmers getting slightly pricked after touching jellyfish in water, during the period of 23 June to 15 August.
