Jane Austen (1775 - 1817) was a British writer. Her most famous works are Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.
She was mainly educated at home by her father and he was supportive of her dream to become a writer. She began writing stories, plays and poems when she was 12. In the past, women were supposed to stay at home taking care of housework and children. Therefore, her novels were published anonymously.
All of her novels are romantic stories about love, family, social norms, etc. These issues are still relevant today. At present, her works continue to enchant readers all over the world. The characters in her novels were brought to life in TV and film adaptations.
