Comic:Library science
【明報專訊】The Smarties are looking for some grammar books to read at the library. They want to improve their English and become smarter than Eason.
“ Bill: Where are the English grammar books? I can't find any here! ”
“ Pat: Shall we ask the librarian for help? ”
“ Pat: Hey, there's a guide here! The library groups similar books together by giving them call numbers. ”
“ Bill: Quiet! ”
“ Bill: English grammar books should be...... this one? 610? ”
“ Dr Panda: No! That's not a ''6''! That's a ''9''! This is Eason's trick again! ”
“ MoMo: All the grammar books are here! ”
■Know more
There are a lot of books in a library. Librarians need to organise books easily and fast. Therefore, a subject called ''library science'' (圖書館學) appeared in 1887. It is a study of libraries. It includes the purchase, organisation and preservation of books. The number on a book's spine is named a call number which works like the book's address, telling us where the books are located in the library.
■English highway﹕Like
''Like'' here means '' similar to'', '' being almost the same''.
