It's easy to offend people from certain countries. Beware doing it when you travel next time! A curse The Arabs associate it with "the evil eye". They make the gesture while cursing someone they hate. Looking down on people The gesture connotes "worthless" in southern France. That makes sense, as the gesture looks really like an egg.
