Around the world﹕Cooperation
【明報專訊】Historical films are fascinating because they allow us room for imagining the past. The Smarties are reenacting the Dunkirk (鄧寇克) evacuation near a beach, but Eason meddles in the event.
“ MoMo: Get into position everyone! We need to retreat now! ”
“ Eason: Haha! I have more men! There's no way you guys could escape! ”
“ MoMo: You can't catch us if you cowards don't hurry up! ”
“ Eason: Stop! The boat is sinking! ”
“ MoMo: See, a good team work together instead of crowding around. We call that cooperation. ”
■Culture tips
The Dunkirk evacuation
The Dunkirk evacuation was a miraculous operation spanning about ten days starting from late May 1940. The British and Allied (同盟國) soldiers understood that they would need to retreat in order to keep their strength, and the naval vessels and civilian boats joined forces to save more than 300,000 troops in the whole mission. The number of rescued soldiers was encouraging and the soldiers' cooperation and morale were key to their success.
■English highway﹕meddle
It means to become involved in something that is none of your business.
e.g. My aunt always meddles in other people's affairs.
