◆Career
Born in Montreal in 1994, Eugenie Bouchard started playing tennis at the age of 5. She became a household name in 2014 as the first Canadian singles player, male or female, to be ranked among the top five in the world. She is regarded as one of the most talented and beautiful women of tennis active these days.
◆International results
Bouchard was named the WTA (Women Tennis Association)'s Most Improved Player after taking the WTA Newcomer of the Year award in 2013. She made history by becoming Canada's first Grand Slam (大滿貫) singles winner in the junior girls' final at Wimbledon (溫布頓) at the age of 18. In her Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Bouchard made it to the second rounds of both women's singles and doubles tournaments.
◆Odds and ends
Bouchard was a star student in mathematics and science, and at one point considered a career as a physician. Her favourite tennis player is the 19-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer. She described talking with Federer at the 2012 Wimbledon Ball as a highlight of her life.
