Collective nouns
We use a collective noun (like group, team and family) to refer to a collection of things, animals or people. A collective noun may be used with a singular or plural verb. It is singular when it is regarded as a single unit and plural when it refers its individual members.
e.g. That team has made much progress since its coach changed his training method.
e.g. Our group are working with their computers.
