Besides searching for information relating to vaccination and COVID-19, the public has shown a craze for the Olympic Games.''Olympic Games'' was the second most-searched keyword of the year, following the ''registration of consumption voucher''.
Among the 10 most-searched local celebrities of the year, seven of them are athletes or people relating to the Olympic Games. Swimmer Siobhan Haughey (何詩蓓) and fencer Edgar Cheung(張家朗) become the two most-searched local celebrities of the year, and appear on the list of the 10 most-searched keywords of the year as well.

Female swimmer Siobhan Haughey is the first Hong Kong athlete to win two Olympic medals in a year. Male fencer Edgar Cheung is the first athlete representing Hong Kong to win an Olympic gold medal in fencing and the second Olympic champion in Hong Kong.

trending local celebrities in the entertainment industry?
Interestingly, they are all related to the music group MIRROR. Anson Lo, MIRROR and Keung To are the most searched artists of the year.

The searching trend in Hong Kong and that of the world are disparate. Among the top searches, ''Squid Game'' appears to be the only mutual trending item between Hong Kong and the world. The global top searches regarding the cricket competitions are mostly contributed by the high search rate in India, reflecting the emerging global influence of India's internet users.(See the picture)
